Frequently Asked Questions
The name Mang Kulas was inspired by our son, Nikolai. We wanted a name that felt proudly Filipino, memorable, and approachable, so we took inspiration from his name — from Nicholas, shortened to "Kulas" (as he was always walking barefoot) — and added "Mang," a Filipino term of respect and familiarity, for a warm, friendly, and distinctly local identity. It also reflects the bold, confident personality behind the brand: authentic Filipino hospitality, hardworking craftsmanship, and great smoked barbecue made for everyone. Today, Mang Kulas is more than just a name — it's a family story, a passion, and a commitment to serving unforgettable smoked barbecue.
